This is a special occasion wine. Opened on September 10th 2010. The aroma smelled of spice box chocolate. The taste was complex with berry fruit and the wine still contained tannin which leads me to believe this wine still has some aging potential. A real pleasure to have tried a wine that by its numbers of bottles is very rare. We look forward to trying more Cabernet Sauvignon from Five rows.

Earth & blueberries on the nose, dark red ruby colour, good concentration with lingering mouthfeel of blueberries, sweet tannins, good integration, elegant cab sauv with very good stuffing, impressive, showcases what notl cab sauv can express.

We have just - December 15, 2010 - drunk this wine that we bought when we visited in October.
It is excellent to drink now and within the next two years. It has a delicate nose. Purple colour. It is full of red forest fruit flavour. The aftertaste is a long lasting pleasure. It is such a pity that we were able to take only the one bottle with us to The Netherlands. It pairs fantastically with a good filet of beef. If only we could have more of these undiscovered beauties. Kindest regards, Frans & Jeannette den Boer

Blueberry, dark purple colour, big concentration, black & blue fruit flavours, built to last & age, massive cab sauv, more concentrated than the legendary 1991 lot 31/66 john marynissen cab sauv, full bodied, substantial cab sauv, best ever from niagara that should age for 15+ yrs, great wine.

We will put this world-class cabernet sauvignon away in our cellar for quite a while...as hard as that is going to be! I would go as far as saying that this is not only the best wine I have ever had from Canada but one of the best wines I have ever had period! This bottle is a pure work of art, from the label to the precious juice inside.

I was happy to pick up the 2007 from Five Rows and to meet Wes Lowrey. The vintage was such an exceptional one that holds great hope. I will lay them down for a while, periodically looking at them and admiring the label. When to drink, who knows, when I do though memories of Five Rows and my visit to the winery will be on my mind.

A “Library Update” of my own:
Lauren and I opened a bottle (387) of the 2007 Cab. Sauv to celebrate the birth of our daughter (July 23, 2012). It was very very nice!!! Still has quite a fruity nose, along with vanilla, and a hint of tobacco. This wine has lots of life left in the bottle, it took a good while in the glass to open fully. Flavors of nice ripe fruit on the pallet, still lots of tannins at play, and a very long smooth finish!
Cheers to another well crafted vintage Wes! - Laurie MacLeod

The depth and intensity of this cab sauv showcases how we can deliver ripeness, flavour, length and longevity. It will so hard not to sample this wine early even though it is a benchmark Ontario/Niagara cab sauv that will stand up to old world blends in 10+ years.

Drinking exceptionally well in 2025. The colour is still a young light, pale yellow. The aroma screams Sauvignon Blanc but softer. Same with the palate. Gooseberry but laced with honey. Patience is a virtue with these.

Shared with family on Dec. 23, 2010. Scent of pears and honey, with a slight melon undertone, and the faintest hint of "spent matchstick" , just a wink from the time spent in oak. A beautiful softness on the pallet, but not too soft! Honey again, and vanilla lingering in the mouth.

Tasting #3 In my opinion the wine is ready to drink and enjoy. The aroma, Strawberries, cranberries, and cherry. Feels soft in the mouth with barrel flavors of spices you might smell in the fall season. The finish goes on and on. Even the non pinot drinkers enjoyed this one. Looking forward to next years bottle opening if I can resist the temptation not to open another soon.

Red fruit and a wonderful earthiness on the nose. Sour cherries with soft tannins and still a good amount of acidity on the palate. We paired it with duck breast with sour cherry and thyme sauce, red wine farro (made with a cheap Baco as this is far too precious!), and snap peas. The sour cherries brought out the fruit in the wine and the acidity in the wine balanced the fattiness of the duck--a perfect pairing!

An excellent Burgundy style Pinot. Avoids the New World tendency to overstate the fruit. Would like to recommend this wine to The Lowery in Manchester UK, an upscale tech venue - however, that depends upon whether you wish to step up volume.

This wine is made by a family-based craft winery tucked away in the St. Davids Bench appellation in the Niagara Peninsula wine region which we have visited and thoroughly enjoyed. The hospitality provided by Wilma was personal and friendly. Who doesnt like this story of 5th generation grape farmers who are now crafting their own wines. The five rows of Pinot Noir were planted in 1984, making them now over 35 years old probably Canadas oldest Pinot Noir vines. This wine is ruby/garnet in the glass and bricked like you would expect in a wine of its age and pedigree. The nose is not intense and has notes of strawberry, sour cherry and allspice. On the palate this light to medium bodied wine is lithe and elegant with great structure and balance. Definitely Burgundian in style and substance.

Wes took some time out of his day to talk and walk myself and fellow classmates, visiting from Manitoba, through the original five rows earlier this spring, shortly after bottling the 2011 vintages. A very fun and insightful experience that ended with a tasting of course where I fell in love with this bottle (still with the Shiraz title before it had been switched to Syrah). This wine will wait in my case till the time is right. I cant wait to meet it again soon and know when I open bottle 121 I will love it all over again.

Opened 3/11/2017. A bit disappointed with this one. Had been stored in my celler, but the cork seemed to have decomposed; soaked 3/4ths of the way through and broke when i opened it. Wine wasnt totally corked, but definitely tasted very thin. Still had some pepper on the palate but was not as good as the 2012 I had recently opened. I still have a 2010, and hoping that doesnt have the same problem :(

I brought the bottle up from our cellar before the holidays for us to enjoy with something special. After the ice storm and five days without power our plans had changed. One night I was scrambling some eggs and having a little smoked salmon on the side when Sally brought out this lovely bottle. The fullness of the lychee and apricot fruit rounded out the natural dryness of the wine with an underlying sweetness that made me wish that there was a whole case downstairs not just the bottle that we finished that night. Thanks!

Savoured this delicious bottle with crispy skin salmon on a bed of butter sauteed leaks and a tarragon pinot noir wine sauce, sticky rice cakes with wasabi creme and blanched field green beans au citron. This bottle was a gift from Five Rows, as our daughter and son-in-law used a bottle from this same vintage for their Wedding Wine Box Ceremony on Oct 11/20...they are planning to open the box on Oct 11/30 (10 year anniversary), so will have to wait until then for that bottle to be registered. Wilma thought we could enjoy this bottle on their 1st anniversary, but had to wait until 05/28/22 to enjoy as my daughter was pregnant with our grandson. So happy to report we finally got to enjoy this bottle with a pasta luncheon on the patio, while our grandson looked on. Thank You Five Rows....Cheers!

Our last Sauv Blanc of this marvellous vintage--very sad. One of the reasons I love your Sauv Blanc while I pass on most others is the incredibly complex nose, a far cry from the NZ stereotype. This time, I got lychee, fresh cut grass, lemon, pineapple, and lemongrass. The palate had an excellent acidity, great for the asparagus risotto I served it with. Somehow it manages to be both refreshing and also surprisingly weighty for a Sauv Blanc. The flavours from the nose carry through. The tasting note mentions grilled pineapple: spot on!

My wife and I opened this bottle to have with our Valentines Day meal. I made a tasty Red Thai Curry dish with Icelandic Halibut. This wine was outstanding. We believe Five Rows has the best wines in all of Niagara and this bottle of 2014 Sauv Blanc did not disappoint. It starts with a nice Green Apple Crisp, followed by a semi sweet tang and finishes with a clean and dry take away. My only regret is that its gone and it was our last bottle. Time for another trip to Niagara soon I think. Thanks again for your passion, craftsmanship and delivery of remarkable wines.

Excellent Pinot Noir, happy to have had a bottle with dinner on a visit to the Niagra peninsula at dinner in Niagara on the Lake. Excellent typicity and transparency, these old vines speak well of the potential for Pinot Noir in Niagara. Over 3 days the cab sauv evolved from more blackberries to cassis and cherries. Paired with rare beef it took the edge off the tannins. Will be interesting to see how this evovles vs the 2015. Needs a few years of bottle age.

Drank this recently with grilled filet mignon. Seemed a little tight when first opened, but became more fragrant and the tannins softened after it had breathed for 45 minutes. Red currant and raspberry fruit with a vegetal undertone--maybe cedar? We enjoyed it and will likely open the second bottle we have of this vintage in the coming winter.

The 2016 Syrah is da bomb! Its body is uniquely complex. When paired with beef or a mild game meat, It presents a leather-pepper sharpness.
When paired with a salty or salty and creamy cheese such as Parm Reggiano, triple cream brie, or a Goat Brie, it transitions into an exceptionally smooth and fruitier delicacy with notes of currants and blackberry. An absolute must to accompany game meats and charcuterie and for those who usually lean towards Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. - Dagmara Lulek

A wonderful example of what a few years of aging can do for a Riesling! Still dry and acidic, there is plenty of fruit left here. Starting to develop those petrol and flinty notes that characterize aged Riesling! Canadian Syrah at it’s best! Even better when you open bottle #1 of the series! The nose is explosive! Tons of red fruit, herbaceous, mostly garigue, spices, white pepper, some vegetal notes, green pepper...all this also found on the palate, but with added vanilla and fresh crisp acidity! Joy in a bottle!

Enjoyed this bottle of Riesling on March 2 with a pork loin roast, seasoned with Herbes de Provence. Proved to be an excellent match; the apple undertones and clean acidity of the wine complemented the richness of the pork and the herbal flavours of its drippings; also seemed to work well with mashed potatoes, butternut squash and sweet red cabbage side dishes. Five Rows wines continue to please and amaze us.

We were lucky enough to have a bottle of this exceptional Sauvignon Blanc brought to our home to enjoy with dinner.
Upon lifting your glass the delightful aromatics are just a hint of what is to come. Passion fruit gently caresses the palate with the initial sip, followed by the beautiful balance of acidity and tropical fruit as the wine unfolds.
I can think of many delightful food pairings for this wine; it certainly was amazing with our bruschetta chicken!
Alternatively, lingering over a glass of this Sauvignon Blanc with no other culinary distractions would make for a very fine evening indeed.
Ill be dreaming of this exclusive wine and hoping that someday I might be fortunate enough to have another glass.

Opened November 2023. Vertical tasting with a 2012 (#748). Not the usual grassy petrol nose; hint of Sulphur; fresh and bright.

Had another awesome bottle of wine from Five Rows. This bottle was enjoyed with a salmon & risotto dinner in Feb/24 and did not disappoint. Cheers!

Dec 2/09 — This bottle was shipped to Napa California with a few other Niagara bottles as a gift. The box was smashed by FedEx, breaking all bottles except this lone survivor. Cheers to quality glass!

We saved our bottle of wine for a special occasion. Last Wed., August 28th, I had a friend and her husband visit us from New York. We have not seen eachother in 29 years. I served Fillet Mignon, asparagus, corn and potatos with your amazing Cabernet Sauvignon. Everyone enjoyed the wine! A compliment since my friend is a chef in Port Chester New York....and knows her wines. Excellent! We still have a couple of bottles for another special occasion. Thank-you for the excellent wine!

I must say this was an amazing bottle that we opened up this past weekend (July 3, 2011). It was full bodied, velvety in texture, still extremely fragrant and deep dark red. Although this bottle was very well developed, I will keep the other 2004 Cab Sauv for another year or two as I believe it will continue to develop into an exceptional wine.

Anise & berry aromas, raspberry flavours, med body & finish. In spite of the vintage conditions, this bottle exhibited depth and balance expected of a warmer year. Drinking well at this stage, and will hold a few more years. Impressive winemaking.
